What urgent NHS care usually covers
Urgent courses are for problems that cannot wait for a routine appointment — severe pain, swelling, trauma or a lost restoration that leaves the tooth sensitive. The charge covers assessment and the urgent measures needed to make you safe; definitive treatment such as a root canal or extraction may be a separate follow-up course.
If no practice will see you
Call NHS 111 (or use 111 online). They can book urgent dental appointments based on symptoms. Do not wait with facial swelling that affects breathing or swallowing — that is an emergency medical pathway, not a routine dental booking.
