Accessibility Statement

Last updated: July 2026

The Local Dentist (thelocaldentist.co.uk) is run by Elite Digital AI Solutions Ltd. We want every patient to be able to find, compare, and contact a dentist using this site — including people who rely on assistive technology.

What we aim for

We work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA. Practically, that means the site is built to be usable with a keyboard alone, with screen readers, at 200% zoom, and on small screens; pages use semantic headings and landmarks, form fields carry visible labels, interactive controls have accessible names, and text colours are chosen for contrast against their backgrounds.

What works today

The whole site is server-rendered HTML that works without JavaScript, including every practice profile, answer, and guide. The directory's filters and calculators are progressively enhanced — core information is readable before any script loads. Distance search never requires sharing your location: the "use my current location" button is optional, click-only, and coordinates stay on your device. Focus outlines are kept visible, and animations respect your system's reduced-motion preference.

Known limitations

We are honest about the gaps: the site is currently English-only (we know a Welsh-language version matters for NHS Wales content, and it is on our roadmap); some generated social-preview images contain text that is also available as page text; and third-party pages we link to — practice websites, cqc.org.uk, gdc-uk.org, nhs.uk — have their own accessibility standards which we cannot control.

Request content in another format

If anything on this site is hard for you to use, or you need information from a page in a different format, email info@thelocaldentist.co.uk and tell us the page and the format you need. We will respond within five working days.

Report a problem

Found an accessibility barrier — something unreadable with a screen reader, unreachable by keyboard, or too low-contrast? Please email info@thelocaldentist.co.uk with the page address and what went wrong. Reports directly shape what we fix first.
