How The Local Dentist works
We make it simple to compare UK dentists by treatments, private prices, and reviews — then contact or visit the one that fits.
- 1
Tell us what you need
Search by postcode or start the comparison wizard: NHS dentistry, an emergency appointment, a check-up and hygiene visit, cosmetic treatment, braces or aligners, or implants — plus how soon you need it. Takes under two minutes.
- 2
Compare matched dentists side by side
We rank dentists on service fit, location, budget, credentials, and reviews — never on who pays us. Compare local practices and online providers, treatments, and indicative private prices in a single table.
- 3
Check verified registration and prices
Every profile shows the practice's CQC registration and the principal dentist's GDC number when on file, with links to the official registers so you can verify them yourself. Private prices are indicative "from" prices — NHS band charges are fixed nationally (Band 1 £27.90, Band 2 £76.60, Band 3 £332.10 in England) and never vary by practice.
- 4
Contact or visit your chosen dentist
For private treatment you can request a quote from the practices you pick — only those practices see your details. For NHS dentistry, open a profile, check availability on the practice website or the NHS website, or phone the practice. No obligation, free for patients.
How we make money
Comparison is always free for patients, and no practice can pay to obtain, raise, or protect a rating. The Local Dentist is funded four ways:
- Partner listings. Practices can pay for upgraded listings with priority placement and included patient enquiries. Paid placement is always labelled and never changes a score or match result — see partner pricing.
- Qualified enquiry fees. Practices may pay per qualified private-treatment enquiry. Patients never pay, and we never sell NHS access as leads.
- City sponsorship. One clearly labelled featured slot per city page, sold on a first-come basis. Sponsorship never affects ratings or rankings.
- Affiliate links. Some articles recommend an oral-care product or link to a referral partner. These links are labelled “Ad · Affiliate link”, carry
rel="sponsored", and may earn us a fee at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, The Local Dentist earns from qualifying purchases. Products are recommended on editorial merit only — see our affiliate compliance policy.
The Local Dentist is a comparison service, not a dental practice, and offers no clinical advice. For urgent dental problems call NHS 111 — or 999 / A&E for facial swelling affecting breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, or serious trauma.
