WebMCP tools for agents in the browser

When an AI agent works inside a visitor's browser tab, pages on this site offer it tools through WebMCP (document.modelContext), so it does not have to read the page layout. WebMCP is in a Chrome origin trial, so most browsers do not expose it yet; those that don't download none of this code.

  • search_dentists, get_dentist, compare_prices, get_price_index: The same read-only tools as the MCP server, called from the page.
  • read_current_page: Title, canonical URL, Markdown version and structured data of the page the user is viewing.
  • start_dentist_enquiry: Opens the private-treatment enquiry form with the treatment, postcode and up to five practices filled in. It never sends anything: the patient adds their details, gives consent, completes the bot check and presses Send.

Agents must not give consent or send enquiries on a patient's behalf. Patient enquiries are for private treatment only; NHS dentistry has fixed national charges, so there is nothing to quote.

How to cite our data

  • Link to the HTML page, not the Markdown version or a data file.
  • Give the checked date and source for any statement that a practice is taking new NHS patients. Without a dated snapshot, say to confirm with the practice or on nhs.uk.
  • Quote private fees as published, with the "from" wording and checked date shown on the profile.
  • Never describe a listing as claimed, verified or featured unless its profile says so.

Open data files are licensed under CC BY 4.0: credit The Local Dentist and link to the source page. Practice register details come from public sources named on each profile. See our methodology and editorial policy.
