Do NHS dental charges change every April?
By The Local Dentist Editorial · Updated 13 August 2026
How to stay accurate
Treat any undated blog post as suspect. Prefer NHS.uk / NHSBSA sources, or pages that state the effective-from date. On The Local Dentist, calculators and answers render from a single prices module so an April update can flip sitewide.
What are the current England figures?
For 2026/27, from 1 April 2026, England Band 1 and urgent treatment are £27.90, Band 2 is £76.60, and Band 3 is £332.10 per course. Wales moved to care packages on the same date rather than bands. Scotland and Northern Ireland still use their own models with a £384 patient-charge cap. Our calculators show the effective-from date so you can see whether a page has flipped yet.
People Also Ask
Will my quote change if April passes mid-treatment?
NHS charging follows the rules for the course of treatment as set out by the NHS at the time — ask the practice how a mid-course rate change is handled if your plan spans April.
Where should I check the live rates?
Use NHS.uk or NHSBSA KA-02003, then confirm the practice’s written plan. The Local Dentist renders England bands from one prices module reviewed 17 July 2026 — we do not type competing figures into individual pages.

This article is general information for UK patients, not clinical advice, and NHS rules and charges change — confirm current rules on nhs.uk or speak to a dentist before acting. For severe facial swelling affecting breathing/swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, or trauma call 999 / go to A&E; otherwise NHS 111 for urgent dental access.
