Compare Dentures providers
Providers listed here are UK dental practices or online dental providers. Prices are the provider's own published figures where we have verified them — otherwise check the practice directly. Treatment is always subject to clinical assessment.
We have not yet verified live provider prices for this treatment. Use the typical range above and compare practices near you, or check back as more profiles are claimed.
The Local Dentist is an independent comparison service and not a dental practice. Where a listing is a referral partner we may earn a commission when you visit them — this never changes prices you pay, ratings, or the order providers appear. What private dentures cost
Full (complete) dentures replace every tooth in a jaw; partial dentures fill gaps while clipping around remaining teeth on acrylic or lighter cobalt-chrome frameworks. Private full dentures typically run £600–£2,500 per jaw — the spread reflects materials, number of fitting stages, laboratory quality, and how characterised the teeth look. Partial acrylic dentures often sit roughly £300–£800; chrome frameworks cost more but feel less bulky. Premium private courses include more try-ins and shade work. Always get a written plan stating full vs partial, upper vs lower, and whether extractions in the same course are included. Ranges are indicative, not quotes.
NHS dentures
Dentures on the NHS in England are Band 3 — £326.70 for the whole course in 2025/26, which can also include extractions in that course. Wales charges £260 for Band 3. Scotland and Northern Ireland apply 80% of item fees up to £384 per course. NHS dentures are functional with standard materials and stages; many patients are satisfied, while others prefer private extras for aesthetics or difficult lower ridges. Exempt groups pay nothing. Being 60+ does not by itself make NHS dentures free.
Fit, adaptation and maintenance
New dentures take practice for speech and chewing; sore spots are common early on and should be adjusted by the clinician — do not grind the denture yourself. Soft linings, relines, and remakes become necessary as gums and bone change shape, often every few years. Leave dentures out at night unless advised otherwise, clean them daily, and keep mouth tissues healthy. Loose lower dentures are a frequent complaint; implant-retained options (typically £4,000–£12,000 per arch) clip the denture onto implants for stability — see our implant-retained dentures page. Speak to a dentist about what your jaw can support.
Alternatives to conventional dentures
Depending on how many teeth remain, alternatives include bridges, single implants, All-on-4 fixed bridges, or implant-retained dentures. Cost, surgery, cleaning, and permanence differ sharply. NHS routine care for missing teeth is usually a denture or bridge at Band 3, not implants. Compare options at a consultation with X-rays or scans where needed — a price list alone cannot choose for you.
