Not always — and this is one of the most under-used rules in NHS dentistry. One band charge covers your whole course of treatment, however many appointments it takes. If you need further treatment in the same or a lower band within two months of completing a course, that follow-up is free. And most NHS fillings, root fillings, crowns, and similar restorations that fail within 12 months must be repaired or replaced by the same practice at no extra charge. You pay again only for a genuinely new course — or a higher band within the two-month window, where you pay the difference in charge.
